The Parent & Teen Toolbox

Oct 13, 2020

There is a great deal of uncertainty in the world at the minute; and our kids are bearing the brunt of this. They have been away from school for many months - and now they are entering an environment that should feel familiar - and yet it’s not; because the education system has been given a bit of an overhaul because of COVID.

Taking it one step further, our students are struggling to adjust to university & college life that doesn’t even compare to that of last year.

In this episode, we are discussing how our teenagers are adjusting - and how we can support them through this process.
JoBeth suggests trying thoughts on for size.

It’s important to acknowledge that we don’t know what’s going to happen in the future - and we need to be OK with that. To accept that outside circumstances aren’t going to make us happy and she encourages us to find joy - through a more positive mindset.
It’s not necessarily the big things - it’s the little things that bring us joy … a soft blanket and the first drink of coffee in the morning.
It’s so important for parents to watch our words. We need to give them thoughts that serve them better.
