This is a solo episode by me. I am having many parents contact me about coping with back to school anxieties.
Our kids are returning to school following 5 months of social
distancing and homeschooling.
It is an uncertain time for many families; and many of our children
are struggling.
I offer 10 Tips for Parents - to better deal with the Transition of Returning Back to School.
Notice the Changes in Your Child Behaviour
Focus on the relationship with your child - and not their
grades
Understand the role of Anxiety
Make Regular check-ins (see the 3 Questions exercise below)
Your response to events is crucial to your child’s emotional
resilience (E+R+O)
Tech is no longer the villain and destroyer it was once purported
to be
Routine is King
Validate their feelings
Offer them problem-solving & coping strategies (see Breathing
Strategies below)
Maintain Balance within the home.
